The Family Fox 11"x14" watercolor on paper
I just loved creating this for a family who commissioned me. Had the funnest time putting these wonderful personalities into fox men, women and children! You can see their great many interests, and hobbies represented, and I am sending many thanks to them for asking me to create this special house warming gift.
p.s.
The funnest fact about this entire piece? The new owner's last name is Fox!
The Magical Story Hour 12"x12" watercolor & ink on paper
After building their new friend, the following day the children returned to enjoy his company again. And they all settled down for a quiet and magical story hour with their new friend. Everyone is hoping to have their favorite book read aloud, even the animals (the birds are carrying their favorite in the air!) What a wonderful way to spend the afternoon!
Thinking of teaching my own snow sculptures the handy trick of reading a-loud from favorite books.
Building Friendships 12"x12" watercolor & ink on paper
One of my favorite things about the winter is being able to sculpt a jolly being from all that snow. These clever kids have thought of all of the right ingredients for making a new friend and bring him to life! (Sequel illustration to follow shortly)
You're the Apple of My Eye 11"x14" watercolor on paper
This happy trio has spent the afternoon in the apple orchard, picking apples, reading, taking the occasional photograph, and (as the evidence of blankets and baskets would suggest) enjoying a hearty picnic lunch. There really is no sweeter way to pass a day than this.
On this cold and wintery January day, I am most certainly with them in my heart of hearts.
Sketching in the wee hours by lamplight. Fueled by cup after cup of Tetley tea.
Fox Mitten 7"x7" watercolor on paper
This little guy wraps up my series, Smitten with the Mitten. It's probably no secret, owing to my deep love of foxes, that this is the painting I am the most smitten with in this set. Gingerbread men dancing above his head, and soon sugar plums will be dancing in our dreams and hearts.
We're getting so close to Christmas, I can barely stand it! The jolly old elf himself is probably making his list, soon it will be getting checked twice, cross your fingers that you make the list. I know this little fox has most certainly been good all year, he's a definite add to the nice list, if you want my recommendation Santa!
My original set, Visions of Sugar Plums, is still available in my shop for a limited time if you want to buy an original piece of my art. The ornaments available in the series are:
Hop over to my shop to make these a part of your holiday decorating and let them help you celebrate a woodland Christmas for years to come!
Thankful for Friendly Windows and Pumpkin Pie 10"x12" watercolor on paper
Thanksgiving thoughts from this bunch of happy critters? Good friends, friendly windows, and pumpkin pie. Hope you get the chance to enjoy a slice of pie during the holiday as well! And if you have any leftovers, why not share a slice with a furry friend?
Happy Thanksgiving!
Getting ready for the holiday where we are thankful. Thankful for friends and family. Of course, there's always reason to give thanks when making a new friend like these two little critters.
I personally am enjoying these many feeling-thankful-thoughts. Hope you are getting the chance to spend some time counting your blessings this week too.
The Woodland Halloween Troupe 10"x8" watercolor and ink on paper
A bit of woodland autumn fun, just one of the reasons why October is my favorite month in the year.
Grandpa Bear's Chair 13"x10" watercolor & gouache on paper
Grandpa Bear and his fox granddaughter love to read in his comfy chair. They have a good source of reading material beside them to keep them entertained for hours of book loving fun.
This is the finished label illustration for Emmeline Wines, an Australian wine company that I have had the honor of working with for their past two vintages. Thank you for letting me join the adventure again Narelle & Tim!
The characters in my new wine label commission beginning to take form.
These two have a great deal in common and reading is an obvious favorite pastime. Note the impressive stack of books beside their comfy chair.
This photo was taken a bit ago now, and the actual painting will be posted in a day or two. Until then!
A fox and a bear.
The beginnings of something that has two of my favorite animals.
My hands have been working in a bit of clay this past week. Amid my festive fa-la-la-ing, it's been a tradition since I was a child to make a new ornament to adorn the tree each December. So I decided that our tree was severely lacking a Vulpes vulpes presence. But no longer!
Say hello to Thaddeus Fox.
He was crafted in the following way:
The final touch was the thin piece of rope to hang him by.
He definitely has made the tree extra spiffy.

Cold Hands, Warm Hearts 8"x10" gouache on paper
Perhaps one of my favorite scenes that I have been painting lately is this snowy setting with two unlikely friends. They could be planning a cup of something warm once they reach their destination, they may be discussing the upcoming Christmas party, or they may be having a discussion on the book my rabbit friend is carrying in her hands.
Either way, I would love to be able to listen in on their discussion and make plans with them.
