I See the Moon watercolor on paper
Stargazing is her favorite hobby.
Spring Has Sprung watercolor on paper
Thoughts of spring are blooming in my mind, and it has already sprung up in my heart. Something tells me that the Easter Bunny might just like a fancy little smock, so I painted one for her and handed her a bouquet.
The Valentine, watercolor on paper
These two young sweethearts are holding hands, the boy in snowshoes is steading the girl on her wobbly ice-skates. She's presenting him with her homemade valentine, and he has a little bouquet of flowers behind his back to surprise her with.
Wishing you a LOVE-ly and Happy Valentine's Day!
Berry Happy watercolor on paper
Dreaming of warm weather and sweet wild strawberries. Two things that make me Berry Happy indeed!
Wings & Petals watercolor on paper
On a cold, wintery morning I found my thoughts filled with flights of fancy and warm spring blooms. This is the result of that wintery day-dream.
Warm Wishes From a Snowman watercolor on paper
Just one of the friendly faces you might meet if you happen to go a-walkin' in a winter wonderland!
And so like this frosty gentleman, we are tipping our hearts to the old year, thankful for sharing in its joys and days, and greeting the new year at the same time, hoping to be dear friends soon! For auld lang syne, my dear, for auld lang syne
I've been using a very limited palette for these silhouettes, and having great fun with the pops of red! I must admit, I love a good yarn... Can't wait to put all of these together!
I just adore days like this, that's probably why autumn has a special place in my heart! Warm cups of tea, pumpkins, and the smell of cinnamon. And all the while, the sound of a windy day is an enchantment to me!
A lovely little note: That bouquet that keeps popping up in my recent posts are my Mama's that she has had dried for years (a special thanks to her for letting me carefully borrow them!) I think I love a good dried flower more than the real thing sometimes!
A sneak peek, where the painting is actually peeking back. I love how she's glancing through the baby's breath...
This horsey is glancing at something over his shoulder. I wonder what he sees...
I've been especially pondering God's goodness today: In my life I have always been so thankful for all of my Heavenly Father's blessings and for the gifts He has given me. I am just so overwhelmed by the goodness He has shown to me for blessing me to pursue illustration and be represented by my wonderful agency. I have been so blessed to have the love and support of my Mom, Dad, and brother during the whole process. I love my family to the moon and back!
Thank you for letting me be a bit sentimental today. There are so many adventures ahead and I can not wait to discover them!!
I may be painting many shades of blue, but I've never been happier... Thus, the equation I've just discovered: Blueberries, and blue columbines = this illustrator's happy pink cheeks!
Sweet William 8"x10" watercolor on paper
Another original is up in my shop! I would think it could be great fun to catch a ride on a snail, and enjoy a happy garden tour at their leisurely pace...
An Afternoon of Hygge 8"x10" watercolor on paper
I'm making a few of my favorite paintings available for sale! You can purchase Hygge, here.
These friends are looking forward to meeting you!
Boiled eggs emerging from a metal pot, and sinking down into lovely hues of tinted vinegar. It is Easter-Eve for certain.
Oh, how I love this time of year! Every time spring rolls around, I fall that much more in love with it. I fashioned these two painted shells after old delftware and blue china patterns of yesteryear. And of course, I come by my love of daffodils naturally, they were my Grandmother's favorite flower. I can absolutely see why.
Happy Easter, my little rabbits!
An Afternoon of Hygge 8"x10" watercolor on paper
A simple practice of cozy. There's nothing like the comfort that can be found in the company of good friends and a warm bowl of hot soup.
A Definition: Hygge: (noun) A Danish word for a quality of coziness (=feeling warm, comfortable, and safe) that comes from doing simple things such as lighting candles, baking, or spending time at home with your family: You can read more about Hygge here, through this fun article courtesy of The New Yorker.
Come to find out, I've been practicing this lifestyle since I was a child, I just never knew the word for it before now.
Happy Trails 11"x14" watercolor and gouache on paper
These two exotic animals have been all over the world and while they wait for their next departure time, in between destinations, the sloth rests his head for a little nap, tired from all of the traveling. Meanwhile the llama is busy reading the newspaper and planning all of their new exciting travels. Clearly she has enough energy for the both of them.
It seems fitting to insert an excerpt from my favorite Frank Capra film: "Do you know what the three most exciting sounds in the world are? Anchor chains, airplane motors and train whistles." These two obviously feel the same.
Sweet William 8"x10" watercolor & ink on paper
A Sweet William peddler employs the help of a friendly, obliging snail who is pulling along his little cart full of spring cheer.
Maggie Among the Magnolias 8"x10" watercolor & ink on paper
A fairy and a robin make for the best of friends. These two are singing the sweet first notes of spring.
February 10th was when I spotted the first robin in my backyard. And now, we're having a taste of spring here in Michigan this week, and I must say that I a little bird told me it was coming.
