Humpty Dumpty: Had a Great Fall watercolor on paper
"Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall,
All the King's horses and all the King's men,
Couldn't put Humpty together again." -Mother Goose Nursery Rhyme
In the last picture we saw Humpty Dumpty in all of his vanity, he was clearly head-over-heels for himself. Now he's head over heels, over and over, again as he tumbles down from his high opinion of himself (not to mention that towering wall!)
Sharing another glimpse into the open pages of the lovely edition of this classic story. This scene with Watch becoming part of the children's story is one of my favorites!!
Thank you so much to everyone with their kind words about this book!! I have been overwhelmed by the warmth and sweetness this book has been welcomed with!! It has meant so, so much!
The beginnings of a fun project I am working on. Painting mice and a friendly snake, for a book cover on Python computer programming!
More sneaky peeks coming soon!
The Magical Story Hour 12"x12" watercolor & ink on paper
After building their new friend, the following day the children returned to enjoy his company again. And they all settled down for a quiet and magical story hour with their new friend. Everyone is hoping to have their favorite book read aloud, even the animals (the birds are carrying their favorite in the air!) What a wonderful way to spend the afternoon!
Thinking of teaching my own snow sculptures the handy trick of reading a-loud from favorite books.
The beginnings of things.
Also, my thoughts are officially on spring now thanks to this fun little picnic taking place.
A sweetheart of a bunny is enjoying her fragrant clover. She'll probably nibble on it in a minute or two, but for now she's taking time to stop and smell the posies.
Another day of inking in October: White clover and a friendly bumble bee.
Happy October my lovelies!
Many apologizes for the silence I have been exhibiting the past month, but there have been a great many things that I have been working on that must remain under wraps. Secrets can be fun, and other times I wish I could let the cat out of the bag!
Anywho, I am getting a late start on Inktober, but am participating none the less! Here is a corner of a bird and floral piece I have been drawing this afternoon. More inking to come in this lovely, beautiful, dreamy brisk month. My favorite of all the calendar year... October!
Here's to the wind, the apples, the leaves, the cinnamon, and pumpkins, each one chock full of magic and full of childhood delights I shall never outgrow!
A fox and a bear.
The beginnings of something that has two of my favorite animals.
Part 2 of my work in progress: This painting has been a labor of love and a good experience for me. It is quite a large painting by my standards, measuring 20"x16". This photo is from a few days ago, since then my happy little New York City scene has come together quite well. The finished illustration is coming your way in a day or two. Until then, happy playing!
All week I have been illustrating a happy scene from a street in Brooklyn. Here's an earlier sneak peek of the work in progress.
