Father Time watercolor on paper
Walking through the ages, holding time tenderly in the crook of his arm. Father Time himself has been on my mind a bit, seeing as we have left one year and gone into another, but it is true that he walks amoung us every calendar day of our lives. You may or may not know this, but Father Time is also a friend to Mother Nature, so I put some little woodland friends in there as well!
Happy Twenty-Eighteen, hoping it's off to a lovely beginning for you!
This is part of something very fun that I have been working on!
Deer Mitten 7"x7" watercolor on paper
Next in line of my series Smitten with the Mitten, is this little deer. Those big ears of hers are just right to hear the ringing of bells from Santa's sleigh. She may not be a reindeer, but she has some Christmas bells of her own.
Her favorite song is Silver Bells. Here's a few lines in case you'd like to sing along:
Silver bells, (silver bells) silver bells (silver bells)
It's Christmas time in the city
Ring-a-ling, (ring-a-ling)
Hear them ring, (hear them ring)
Soon it will be Christmas day
Packaging off my original painting Then We Went for an Outing, and sending dear friends to their new good home!
In My Hart of Hearts 8"x10" Acrylic on paper
Today the world is remembering & celebrating the brilliance of William Shakespeare, so I thought I would join in and share a Shakespeare inspired commission I did for a British music magazine (I'm a sucker for those lace collars.)
Here's the quote that inspired the piece:
"Give me that man, That is not passion's slave, and I will wear him In my heart's core, ay, in my heart of heart, As I do thee." - William Shakespeare (Hamlet Act 3, scene 2, 71–74)
Way to go Shakespeare!
Time Flies 16"x20" Watercolor & colored pencils on paper
Most of us have heard of the expression Time Flies, but it is also said to stand still... These are two images I tried to capture and convey within this illustration.
Swallows swoop and alight from an opened pocket watch as if they're escaping a birdcage, while a girl and her deer stand motionless and observe time flying by. (The girl is wearing a Valentino dress from their 2015 Pre-Fall collection.)
I was in my happy place painting all of those beating wings and the blue plumage of the swallows. Birds are dear to my heart, they are my feathered friends.
Eleanor Watercolor & gouache on paper 12"x16"
Eleanor loves to tend the flowers in her garden. She loves them so much, that she made a garden of her dress. When she's not in the garden outside, her favorite place to be is the library.
She is wearing a dress from Dolce & Gabbana's winter 2016 line, and a portion of her appeared as the annual holiday postcard for Betty Magazine.
Betty Magazine Christmas Card: (Dolce & Gabbana)
My Christmas illustration of a deer modeling Dolce & Gabbana’s 2016 winter line for Betty Magazine!
This was the second year in a row that I have illustrated & designed their annual Christmas Card.I hope it will bring a little piece of holiday cheer to your mailbox (snail-mail style!)
Once again, it was a delight to work with the lovely ladies at Betty Magazine! Thank you Charlotte J & Charlotte M!
And a Merry Christmas to all of you reading this as well!
